Indiana lawmakers met this morning to discuss whether to cut taxes.

In a conference committee hearing on HB 1002, both House and Senate as well as Democrats and Republicans expressed their opinions regarding Indiana’s finances and whether the state should cut taxes, pay off pension liability or invest in new programs.

No decision was made, however a conference committee report is being drafted.

Governor Eric Holcomb has proposed cutting the state income tax to 2.9 percent, saying the state can afford to do so because of its good fiscal shape.
