Despite growing criticism from Republicans, U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly tells Indy Politics he hasn’t decided whether he would join a possible filibuster of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says he will vote no on cloture and is encouraging his colleagues to do the same.
A spokesperson for Donnelly says he takes seriously his responsibility to provide ‘advice and consent’ on judicial nominees. She said Donnelly is meeting with the nominee, carefully reviewing his record and the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing and he will vote on Gorsuch’s nomination.
However, when asked specifically as to whether Donnelly would join some of his fellow Democrats in blocking the nomination the spokesman said: ” Donnelly has not decided how he is planning to vote on cloture.”
Donnelly is scheduled to be in Indianapolis tomorrow visiting two predominantly African-American churches with fellow U.S. Senator Cory Booker.
