There’s more possible controversy surrounding embattled Center Township Constable Kenneth Allen.
Allen, who won the caucus last month to replace convicted felon Denise Paul Hatch, is accused of not living in the township when he filed to run. He now faces issues of whether he met the filing deadline.
Allen signed the document on his candidate form on November 8th. The county Clerk’s office stamped it as received it on November 12th.
Under state law, the deadline to file is three days before the scheduled caucus, which was November 5th, however, it is unclear whether that applies to candidates in a caucus as opposed to a standard election.
Allen was on the IPS School Board and lost re-election on November 5th.
A hearing on Allen’s residency issue is scheduled before the Marion County Election Board on December 12th.
