As Indiana gears up for a possible rare mid-cycle congressional redistricting, State Sen. Greg Goode (R–Terre Haute) is making it clear that the debate will be heard — but not descend into chaos.
Goode announced today that he will host a listening session from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in the Terre Haute City Hall council chamber, inviting residents of Senate District 38 to share their opinions on the redrawing of political lines.
The senator also unveiled a set of ground rules intended to keep the event focused and civil:

Proof of residency in Senate District 38 is required for entry, verified by an Indiana photo ID.

Non-residents will be asked to remain outside and may submit written comments for review.

No signs or political paraphernalia will be permitted in the chamber.

Participants must behave with courtesy and respect; anyone disrupting the session will be removed.

Each speaker will have two minutes to share their views. Goode emphasized he will “listen, not debate.”

Because of fire code limits, speakers are encouraged to exit after their turn so others can participate.

Terre Haute City Hall remains a weapon-free building.
Goode said the session is designed to let every voice be heard while maintaining a respectful environment. “This process works best when everyone has a voice — and everyone follows the same rules,” he said in a statement.
Goode will take media questions at 10:20 a.m. before the session begins.
