Facing another year of record murders, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett announced a new partner in the city’s war against crime and violence.
The Mayor announced today a new Director of Community Violence Reduction as well as the launch of a grant application to invest nearly $300,000 into Indianapolis neighborhoods this year for crime prevention.
Shonna Major, an Indianapolis native who was also victim of gun violence as a teenager, is heading up efforts.
Indianapolis has seen more than murders this year, putting it on pace to break last year’s record.
