Although Indianapolis’ murder rate is down compared to last year, the leader of one local anti-violence group says the numbers don’t tell the entire story.

As of today, the city has seen just 130 murders, which is nine percent below last year; non-fatal shootings are down also.

Rev. Chrles Harrison says despite the current decline, the murder rate is still too high, and lot of citizens don’t feel safe.

He also does not think that Mayor Joe Hogsett’s or Republican Jefferson Shreve’s gun control proposals will do much good to keep the city safe.

You can hear Rev. Harrison in the Leon-Tailored Audio above.

It runs for about 19 minutes.
