Indianapolis and Marion County law enforcement are telling First Church of Cannabis (TFCC) members that if they use pot in their service next week, someone should be prepared to go to the joint.
TFCC plans to hold a ceremony on Wednesday, July 1, the day the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) goes into effect.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry and IMPD Police Chief Rick Hite say while RFRA may be a defense in a criminal prosecution marijuana possession and distribution is a crime and they will act accordingly.
Curry says he met with TFCC founder Bill Levin to express his concerns.
