Republican State Representative Jim Lucas talks to Indy Politics about a letter he authored and about 20 of his fellow Republicans signed this week asking Governor Eric Holcomb to use his executive authority to stop IU from requiring students, faculty, and staff to get COVID-19 vaccination shots before returning to class.

IU says the policy is needed to protect its students and employees from COVID-19.

Indiana lawmakers passed legislation this past session banning “vaccine passports” by local governments which require proof of vaccination, however, it was unclear whether that law applied to colleges and universities.

You can hear Lucas in the Leon-Tailored Audio above.

It runs for about 10 minutes.
