Despite a proposal being offered by the business community, IPS School officials say they plan to offer their own proposal for a referendum this Fall which will be used to increase teacher salaries.

The Indy Chamber offered a referendum proposal this week that would granted teacher raises, but it also called for more building consolidation and reductions in the IPS workforce.

IPS Chief of Staff and General Counsel Ahmed Young says while they appreciate the Chamber proposal, the school district thinks it can come up with a plan that would accomplish the same goals without being as aggressive.

Young made his comments this week on WIBC’s Abdul at Large Program.  You can hear him below in the Leon-Tailored Audio.

Each segment runs about nine minutes.

IPS will unveil its plan to its Board of Commissioners on Tuesday.
